surviving financially whilst waiting for the divorce

I wanted to drop you a line after reading about your story in the magazine - Eve. It struck a chord with me, as I am going through a similar situation recently. My husband walked out on me and my twin girls (5 years old) 9 months ago and at the moment undergoing a troublesome divorce.
What I am finding, that there is a huge legal loophole for mothers who are waiting on their husbands to decide on what they will be paying out on maintenance etc. I am also finding it very difficult in finding a job to fit around the children and school holidays. If I didn't have family help i.e. living with my parents I would be out on the street. Have you found this a regular occurrence with other mothers/wives?
I would welcome your knowledge and experience especially when your SOS show will be going ahead next year?
